Weight-loss Downside, Wardrobe Downsize

by Angela on August 30, 2010

So far there has only been one downside to weight-loss. I have nothing to wear. As a woman, I have uttered these very words time and time again, but I think this is the only time it has actually been true.

Since I started on my healthy journey in March, I’ve lost quite a bit of weight. I’m not sure how much, I don’t like the scale, but I’ve dropped two dress sizes. One dress size was doable, because luckily I had held onto a lot of my old jeans and skirts. But two sizes… I didn’t plan for this. I never thought I’d be here again.

But if this is the only downside to weight-loss, I can’t really complain. Of course the task of going through my clothing items and somehow disposing of them (in a way that will please the wallet) isn’t the greatest way to spend a weekend.

Sunday:

Some I donated, some I gave to family, the others I will sell!

I feel as if I’m looking at my life’s work in front of my eyes. All that hard work, building the perfect wardrobe of items… my investment… gone. I must have about $1,000 worth of jeans alone that no longer fit me (eBay!). Forget the money, I was attached to some of those items. Watching my best friend try on my favorite blazer was like stabbing a sword through my heart. Oh the agony!

And then there is the pain of figuring out just how to replace these items without going broke. Enter the consignment store! As of right now, I have 2 work skirts and 1 pair of jeans. That’s it. So I’ve been wearing a lot of leggings and dresses lately. Size medium dresses seem to be universal, add a belt and they should last one more dress size, hopefully. Because I’m going for more! I’m far from super-fit, I’m still a pudge, but now I’m a pudge who can do this:

So not me.

I’m very excited and pleased! Just don’t beĀ surprisedĀ if you see me wearing the same outfits over and over again.

How am I losing the weight?

Eating: I log my eating on an online food journal (even the bad days) and Eating Right lunches have helped me stay on track during the 9-5.

Exercise: I work-out at least 4 times a week. My goal is 2 yoga visits and 2 gym visits a week. The gym usually consists on 1 hour of cardio.

And that is it! I still partake in my vices, except I plan and adjust accordingly (most of the time).
